Maggie Q, born as Margaret Denise Quigley, is an American actress and model, renowned for her roles in high-octane action films and television series. Born on May 22, 1979 in Honolulu, Hawaii, she dropped out of school to commence a modelling career in Tokyo at the tender age of 17. Her ethnic background, a mix of Vietnamese, Polish and Irish descent, gave her a unique appeal in the modelling world, opening doors to opportunities that eventually led her to Hong Kong.
In Hong Kong, Maggie Q was introduced to Jackie Chan, who, impressed by her athletic abilities, took her under his wing and trained her in martial arts. This marked the turning point in her career, as she transitioned from modelling to action films, starting with her debut role in 2000's Model from Hell. She garnered acclaim for her physicality and screen presence, leading to her breakthrough role in Mission: Impossible III, where she starred alongside Tom Cruise.
Beyond her acting career, Maggie Q has been an ardent animal rights activist and vegan, contributing significantly to PETA campaigns. In 2013, she was recognized for her efforts to promote plant-based diets and named PETA's Person of the Year. Simultaneously, her performance in the television series Nikita, where she played the lead role, has earned her a place among the most respected actresses in the action genre.
