As a member of one of Sweden's most recognizable acting families, Bill Skarsgård achieved success in both his native country and in the United States. He was born on August 9, 1990 and was the fourth son of famed Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård. Interested in following in the footsteps of his father and two of his older brothers, Skarsgård made his acting debut as a ten-year-old in the Swedish thriller "White Water Fury" (2000) alongside his brother Alexander. Despite appearing in a few TV mini-series and short films, Skarsgård was unsure about pursuing an acting career until he was cast alongside his father in the sword-and-shield epic "Arn: The Kingdom at Road's End" (2008). From then on, Skarsgård continued to find acting gigs in Sweden, including a small role in the science-fiction comedy "Kenny Begins" (2009). It was not until 2010 when the young actor found his breakthrough in the title role of the Swedish comedy "Simple Simon." His sensitive performance as a teenager suffering from Asperger's syndrome in this Academy Award-nominated movie garnered him considerable critical notice. With the newfound attention, Skarsgård was able to land a role in his first non-Swedish movie as Captain Machouten in director Joe Wright's 2012's adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's "Anna Karenina," starring Academy Award-nominated actors Keira Knightley and Jude Law. Skarsgård next started principal shooting for his first American TV series "Hemlock Grove" (Netflix 2013-). Based on Brian McGreevy's horror novel, the series starred Skarsgård as Roman Godfrey, whose family is stricken with tragedy due to supernatural forces. Between seasons of "Hemlock Grove," Skarsgård co-starred in Norwegian drama "Victoria" (2013), and the final film in the "Divergent" young adult series, "Allegiant" (2015). After the series ended in 2015, Skarsgård co-starred ooposite Charlize Theron in Cold War action thriller "Atomic Blonde" (2017) and the blockbuster adaptation of Stephen King's "It" (2017) as the iconic character of Pennywise the clown. He next appeared in romantic drama "Battlecreek" (2017), crime thriller "Assassination Nation" (2018) and action comedy sequel "Deadpool 2" (2018).
