James Evans Sr. is a fictional character portrayed by actor John Amos in the 1970s American sitcom Good Times, from the first season in 1974, until the end of the third season in 1976. The character first appeared as Henry Evans in a 1973 episode of the sitcom Maude, but was renamed James upon the premiere of Good Times.
